Espot defends that those who have the most training must negotiate with the EU

Xavier Espot asked this morning in front of the administrative building of the Government that the negotiation with the European Union must continue to be led by "the same group of people" because he considers that the European Commission "trusts its interlocutor, which is us ". So Espot has remarked that "I say this from humility, but we are the most capable" and has claimed the need to conclude a negotiation that "will end in a good agreement for Andorra".

The DA candidate has defended that "this agreement, if it ends favorably, will determine the economic prosperity of our country for many years" although he has made it clear that there is no rush to conclude the negotiation. "When the council of the commission is chaired by Spain, a fact that can mean that we can culminate a very good agreement for Andorra, now for us it is not a non-negotiable issue if in the end we need another year to get a better agreement we will not have any kind of inconvenience, we have been negotiating since 2015 we do not think we have to go fast if that commits to obtaining a good agreement," Espot said.

In addition, the candidate for re-election has emphasized the agreements that have already been reached in matters such as tobacco or FEDA and has asked the parties not to instrumentalize the negotiations with the EU. "The instrumentalization made by the parties because they tell us through an alibi: you are not transparent and you have to tell people things as they are, when we say that it is important that a no to the agreement could put the customs agreement at risk, it turns out that we are alarmists; there comes a time when we do not know how to face the debate and I prefer to face it from a positive side" said Espot who made it clear that "this is not the time to do experiments, it is the time for this negotiation to continue piloting this negotiation".
